Alaska Cruise - Royal Carribean Quantum of the Seas

For our summer vacation (end of school) we went on a Cruise to Alaska.  We sailed out of Seattle on the Royal Carribean Quantum of the Seas.  This was our FIRST Royal Carribean Cruise but it won't be our last.
For those of you know me personally our flights were cancelled for our Winter Break cruise and we missed the boat!

ROOMS: 4/5As with cruise ships the rooms were small but there was good storage & updated bathrooms.  We were also able to connect our balconies.

FOOD: 4/5 I thought the food was good for cruise food.  My daughter loved the escargot appetizers and the pizza and daily soft-serve ice cream.  I loved the hot dogs at the stand.  We stuck with the main dining room and did not try the specialty restuarants.

DRINKS: We did one beverage package (soda, coffee, non-alcoholic smothies, bottled water) and one deluxe package (all drinks including alcohol) which worked well for the 4 of us.  Not sure if I would do the alcohol package again because it was very expensive.

SERVICE: We had great service at our dining table and our housekeeper.  We also utilized the laundry ($35 for a bag) as there was no self-serve laundry available.

OVERALL: We had a good time.  After reading more on Alaska I wish we had done Princess Cruise line or another that stops at Glacier Bay.

Day 1: We flew into Seattle and stayed overnight at the Crown Plaza Seattle Airport hotel.  The shuttle was very slow but overall the hotel was great-- good room service food and bar & free breakfast.

Day 2: We took the Seattle Express to the port.  This worked really well they bring your luggage and you can drop it off at the pier and it gets taken to your room.  I highly recommend Air Tags for luggage because you will not see your luggage for several hours.

We took advantage of the pool and had lunch and our room was ready by 1PM.  We did two balcony rooms that were connected and had our kids in one room and myself and my husband in the other.

Day 3: Sea day-- my kids loved the onboard activities including indoor pool, bumper cars, trivia, bingo; there were also scavenger hunts and daily free "charms" for a charm bracelet that my daughter loved.  There were also daily drawings for jewelry and Art that I won a diamond pendant necklace at.  They did NOT like the kids club.

Day 4: Sitka: We did the raptor center & bear preserve.  It was kind of like going to the zoo.

Day 5: Icy Strait Point.  We loved the gondala and hiking around.

Day 6: Juneau. This was our favorite day.  We did the helicoptor to the glacier and Dog-sledding. The views were spectacular and my kids loved the dog-sledding.

Day 7 & 8: Sea Day & Victoria- We did a whale watching trip but only saw 1 humpback whale.  We had better luck just watching outside of our balcony.

Day 9: Seattle-- we spent the day at the Space Needle and Chihuly Glass Garden.  This was fun for all.
