Disney Cruise Tips!
As many of you know we LOVE Disney Cruising. We have done Disney Cruises every year since my son was 1 year old and I highly recommend if you enjoy relaxing. The amazing part about Disney cruises is that there are so many activities going on you don't have to stress about planning what to do.
My Top Tips for Disney Cruise:
#1. Plan early. The prices are cheapest when the itineraries open. You will also have the best availability for rooms. Most rooms have bunk beds and a queen sized bed but some also have a murphy bed that folds down to sleep 5.
#2. Location: we love having the balcony/ veranda. We have stayed in the Aft, Midship, and Forward. In general I find Aft and Midship to be the most convenient to activities and restaurants. I also recommend staying near the elevators/ stairs if possible.
#3. What ship? The Magic and the Wonder are the smaller ships; followed by the Wish, the Dream and the Fantasy. They are all amazing.
#4. When to go. We have gone any time of year, my least favorite was sailing out of New York in October. It was VERY cold and windy. Just remember Hurricane Season :)
#5. You must fly out the night before the cruise and stay overnight in a hotel. Too much can happen if you try to fly the day of the ship and they boat leaves at 4PM sharp. I recommend flying into orlando, staying at the airport hotel (Hyatt) and taking disney transportation to the ship. They will take your luggage from your hotel room and it will "magically" appear at your room hours later.
#6. Book excursions and on ship activities early. These typically sell out. Often if this is your first cruise you will not be able to book anything. That is OKAY-- there is plenty to do. These will open up 30, 60, or 90 days prior to your sailing.
#7. Onboard bookings we enjoy: Palo restaurant, Spa, Princess tea party, Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, Alcohol tastings (mixology, wine, tequila), Princess gatherings, specific character meet & greets.
#8. Excursions we enjoyed: Dolphin encounter in Nassau, Stingrays at Castaway Cay
#9. Bring cash to tip your servers, room attendants, etc. This is done at the end and while they add per person gratuities these people work so hard to make the cruise magical we always tip $20 to $50 extra to each.
#10. Try everything! My kids loved the kids club, midship detective agency, pirate night (don't forget your pirate costume).
